The March/April 2016 issue of the ACSM's Health & Fitness Journal hosts an interesting article analysing the success of the standardized large-scale health prevention model of the US Army Wellness Centers (AWC).
The Army Wellness Center model is a primary prevention health education model that helps Army community members—including active duty soldiers, retirees, reservists, family members, and Department of the Army civilians—increase their healthy behaviors and reduce their disease risk factors.
The U.S. Army Public Health Center (USAPHC) developed, standardized, implemented the AWC model in accordance with best practices in worksite health promotion and identified how to scale it up to serve a globally distributed force.
This article focuses on the key aspects of this model that have been identified as most beneficial to helping clients improve their health from the perspective of a sample of health educators who have applied the model.
